Killer Mike Takes Home Three Grammys In 2024 Grammy Celebration

As reported by Pitchfork and Variety, Killer Mike, the Hip-Hop artist, activist, and entrepreneur, had a triumphant night at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards, held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday. The Atlanta native took home three Grammy awards, winning in all three categories he was nominated in. He won the awards for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for his track “Scientists & Engineers”, featuring André 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane, and also won the award for Best Rap Album for his sixth studio album, Michael, which was released in June 2023.

The track “Scientists & Engineers” was a standout on the album and beat out some stiff competition in the Best Rap Performance race. It won against Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar’s “The Hillbillies”; Black Thought’s “Love Letter”; Coi Leray’s “Players”; and Drake and 21 Savage’s “Rich Flex”. Killer Mike's song also took home the award for Best Rap Song, triumphing over “Rich Flex”; Doja Cat’s “Attention”; Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice and Aqua’s “Barbie World” and Lil Uzi Vert’s “Just Wanna Rock”.

Killer Mike’s album “Michael” was also a big winner, beating out some heavyweights in the Best Rap Album category. It won against Drake and 21 Savage’s “Her Loss”; Metro Boomin’s “Heroes & Villains”; Nas’ “King’s Disease III” and Travis Scott’s “Utopia”.

Sunday night marked Killer Mike’s first Grammy Award wins since 2003, when he was first nominated and won for his feature on OutKast’s “The Whole World” in the Best Rap Performance by a duo or group. Mike was also nominated for Best Rap Song in 2018 for “Chase Me” by Run the Jewels, his Hip-Hop duo with rapper and producer El-P.

Killer Mike's three Grammy wins on Sunday night are a testament to his skills and value as an artist, his dedication to his craft, and his ability to create music that resonates with his fans. He has been a force in the Hip-Hop world for years, and his latest wins only solidify his place as one of the most talented and influential artists in the industry today.

Following his victory, the artist was handcuffed at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena and escorted out of the venue, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Chris Gardner. The Los Angeles Police Department eventually posted on social media that Mike was booked for {alleged} misdemeanor battery “for a physical altercation” at the venue. He has since been released.

One of his competitors for Best Rap Album, Travis Scott, posted on X after Mike’s victory, “🤨.”

In addition, Drake, who also lost to Killer Mike, wrote online, “All you incredible artists remember this show isn’t the facts it’s just the opinion of a group of people whose names are kept a secret 🤫😂 (literally you can google it) congrats to anybody winning anything for hip hop but this show doesn’t dictate shit in our world.”

Congrats to Killer Mike for an amazing album and an amazing victory! Salute!
